While visiting LA found this hidden gem! The line was super long so I instantly knew the food was going to be good! They didn't disappoint! We were sat at the counter and was able to see the cooking directly. Now don't make the same mistake I made unless you're really hungry-I allowed my stomach to order for me-boy oh boy- the hot cakes were huge, fluffy, sweet before the warm syrup- the potatoes were cooked to perfection and my eggs had a lil seasoning to them-before I could ask they handed me a small container of the house made salsa -at that point I was in love. The waitress made sure our glasses were never empty and she was really fast. I failed to take a picture of the other meals but I will say for the price you won't be disappointed! Definitely well worth it! Sadly I didn't go to the restroom nor did I get pictures of the inside but it's such a small place but packed. Side note: they're only open until 3 each day!

Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I love this joint! It's like a time travel trip back to pre war LA. The only thing missing is the cigarette smoke. They feature a very limited breakfast menu. Eggs, pancakes or french toast, in combinations or ala cart. Served with crispy, crispy, crispy hash browns or various breakfast meats. The portions are huge and the prices cheap. (Shhh don't tell them, but their prices are like from the 1980's) They have ham steaks the size of dinner plates! Get the grilled sourdough bread. (No kidding around, its amazing.) Also, get the coleslaw, it is perfect, and thats hard to find these days). If you love breakfast, this is the place. Walk out of your hotel and come here. Don't let the line deter you. It moves fast. 15 minutes from the back of the line to the front. They also come out and offer counter service if you are a party of 1 or 2 and will pull you off the line. Say yes to counter seating. The counter seats are a must for foodies. Watching the grill men work is a fascinating treat. Double highly recommend!

You'll wait in a long line, maybe 20-30 people in line on a Sunday around 10am. We, a party of 6 waited almost 45 minutes. Menu is simple. Our waiter was in a hurry. Food arrived hot. Ordered over easy eggs, got over hard. Ordered no powdered sugar on French toast, got powered sugar. Eggs that are whisk, poured on the griddle and bread put on top of the eggs is French toast- It was different but understandable how fast food needs to go out to the tables. Salsa, chicken fried steak, fried potatoes, ham & eggs, steak & eggs were all good. Portion are plenty.

Haven't been here in some time, but there is always a wait, not much seating inside but worth it, very large portions, friendly staff, good food. Parking is a small walk away, there is street parking near here. Lots of homeless in the area, would not recommend being here at night.

The Original Pantry is definitely an original place for breakfast and lunch. The food is old fashioned diner style and fantastic. The waitstaff is great and many have been here for years. Although we live in LA, The Original Pantry is a must every once in a while. A "must try for Tourists". This was one of the restaurants that never closed - although COVID changed a few things. Now, limited hours...so it's really not 24/7 like it was in past years. It would be great to see The Original Pantry bring back the true 24/7 "we never close".

It's diner food. Really good diner food. They have real butter and the toast was amazing. Large quantity of food for the price. I like that they have potatoes and not hash browns. They are kind of cooked the same way, but I find them edible which is saying a lot (I really hate hash browns) My husband ordered an omelette (4 eggs!!!). I got a #3 (eggs, bacon, potatoes, and pancakes. We had trouble finishing our plates. It was really busy and loud when we went (Sat afternoon), but the staff was efficient and attentive. Would recommend a visit.

I have to leave five stars for this now it's not only a piece of history, but the service is really quick here. My favorite is the bacon and sausage with the legendary sourdough. You will love coming here enjoying business and been open since 24 stop by and check it out as well or make sure you get here early. The line is long, but it's worth it.
